He mar: 26 Apr 1901 in Wesleyan Church, Wanganui to ELLEN (Nellie) SIGNAL, daughter of JAMES SIGNAL (1838 - 1912) and EMILY CONSTAUT (1861 - 1920). She was b: 12 Dec 1876 in Wanganui, and d: 17 May 1965 aged 88Y in Auckland.

CLARK - On Jan 11, 1951 at his son's residence, North River, Waipu, George William Alfred, dearly beloved husband of Ellen Clark of 129 Balmoral Road, Mount Eden, loved father of Alf and Howard, grandpa of Marea and Nigel; aged 74 years. His end was peace. A service will be held at Watney Sibun's Sons Chapel, Khyber Pass, Newmarket at 11 a.m. on Monday , the funeral then leaving for Purewa Lawn Cemetery.

Obituary: One of the best known bowlers in Auckland, Mr. George William Alfred Clark, of Balmoral Road, Mt. Eden, died in Waipu yesterday aged 74. Mr. Clark retired from the Post and Telegraph Department before the war after holding appointments in several parts of the Dominion.

For many years, he was a telegraph operator in Parliament Buildings.

Mr. Clark was a serving member of the executive of the Auckland Bowling Centre, secretary of the Balmoral Club for the past 20 years and for 10 years secretary-treasurer of the Auckland District Bowling Umpires' Association of which he was one of the founders.

He was well known as an umpire at Auckland Centre and Dominion bowling tournaments.

He was also a prominent Freemason, being a past-master of Lodge Maungawhao, of which he was secretary for the last 15 years. He was also a past first principal of the Ara Royal Arch Chapter and a past grand standard bearer in the Grand Lodge of New Zealand.
