7th November, Wednesday - 1 am, a gale and high sea over the bulwarks. Lat. 45.49, Long. 19.25. Cold continues. Shipped seas repeatedly. Birth on Board
 
8th November, Thursday - Fine temperature. Lat. 46.5, Long. 24.10. A variety of birds about ship at 4 pm. An addition to the doctor's family - a girl.
 
9th November, Friday - Fine and better breeze from NNE, 7 knots. No meridian altitude. Lat. by reckoning 46.50, Long 27.25. Cloudy and foggy. Rain at night.
 
10th November, Saturday - No altitude today.
 
11th November, Sunday - Fine but cold, wind SW. Prayers as usual. Lat. 47.56, Long. 35.35. Should be near Prince Edwards Island. Course SE by S. Cold.
 
12th November, Monday - Fine but cold. Sea calm. Birds still with us. Lat. 48.24, Long. 40.19. Evening raining and a wet night. Icebergs Appear
 
13th November, Tuesday - All hands out at midnight to take in the sail. It's blowing half a gale. The ship goes steadily at 9 1/2 knots 6 o'clock morning, wind going down. Cold and wet. Lat. 49.26, Long. 45.19. Halfpast 12. much snow and wind and the sea increases and ship rolling very much. Halfpast 6. An iceberg appears to the northward of us like a monster wave. Captain said it was 7 miles off Cold wind and gale and the highest sea running since we sailed.
 
14th November, Wednesday - Gale moderate and at 7 in the morning, only a stiff breeze. An iceberg seen about 4 miles to the southward, smaller than the one yesterday. Lat 49.26, Long. 50.8. Sea high and the ship rolling extremely. 7 pm gale increased and sail shortened, it's blowing very hard.
 
15th November, Thursday - Ship running all night under close reefed top sail. Sea running high, an iceberg in the morning. Lat. 49.29, Long. 54.10. Blowing hard. Squalls with snow. Shipping seas and main deck wet. 24 hours under close reefed topsail. 12 am. Wind moderates a little.
 
16th November, Friday - 7 o'clock, winds more moderate but cold and unsettled and many birds. Lat. 48.34, Long. 38.40.
 
17th November, Saturday-Lat. 49.16, Long. 63.30. All sails set. Course easterly, wind NW by W. Light rain. Some talk of sighting Kerguelen land tomorrow.
 
18th November, Sunday - Disagreeable Sunday. Morning blows fresh with rain. Wind N. Course E by N. Not likely to sight land being too far south. The colour of the water green. 8 knots and steady breeze. Lat. 47.16, Long. 67.20.
 
19th November, Monday - Fine morning. Compass case floated past. Lat. 47.12, Long 71.55. Wind NNW. Course E, 8 knots. Water still green.
 
20th November, Tuesday - Fine morning and light breeze. Saw a whale and some bonitos. Foretop stunsail split last night. Lat. 46.57, Long. 76.46. Saw some seaweed.
 
21st November, Wednesday - Fine and fresh breeze fromW, Lat. 47.31, Long. 81.12. Number of whales and birds. 8 knots.
 
22nd November, Thursday - Cloudy but fine. Fresh breeze. Wind WNW. Course E. Seaweed. No altitude
 
23rd November, Friday - Steady breeze from WNW. Course E. 7 1/2 knots. Lat. 48.9, Long. 89.30.
 
24th November, Saturday - Clear morning, breeze and W by N. Course E. Lat. 48, Long 94.24. Some sperm whales sporting. Seaweed. My Birthday - 50 years.
