We view by daylight the area we walked the previous evening and are taken on a guided bus tour of Singapore, populated by nearly 7 million people. Everywhere, pristine cleanliness and towering architecture dwarfing the smaller riverside buildings which fringe water edges. We are encouraged by our Singaporian guide to change transport and take an unsheduled but worthwhile canal-boat ride to better view Simgapore's architectural wonders before rejoining our bus. We next contrast the new with the historical buildings and narrow streets crammed with retailers - old China Town bustling atmosphere, visit a gem factory and the wonder at the colour and vibrancy of the Orchid Gardens before returning to our hotel and an evening meal in a cafe.
