The committee - Messrs. G. Brown, H. Collins, G. E. Fearn, J. Coringe, and Mr. W. Chandlor as Secretary�expects to be able to hand over �40. The hall was lent free of charge by Messrs. Georgo Thomas & Co., and Platt's Band gave its services in aid of the affair. Evening Post, 14 July 1892; The firebells rang out vigorously at about 11 o'clock last night, the alarm being caused by an outbreak in the parlour of a boardinghouse kept by Mrs. Guilford, Kent-terrace. Fortunately Muss Guilford discovered and checked the fire in time to prevent any serious damage. It is supposed that one of the inmates of the house must have left a jet of gas burning too close to the wall of the room.
