She mar in 1885 to (1) JAMES CALDWELL
BATEMAN RANKIN, son of ALEXANDER RANKIN and ANNA POWICK. James
was b: 29 Oct 1861 in Wairau Valley, Marlborough, (he mar: (1) 1881
to Elizabeth Macgregor Bruce at Marlborough and they had 2 sons -
Donald James Rankin (b: 1884; d Melbourne, Victoria, Aus) and Oswald Bruce
Rankin (1882 Marlborough) (This site states James was with Tangopo Tehaupa Matire, Ngapua and had 2
sons b: 1893 and 1896???) James d 27 Sep 1924 in
Walwa, Victoria Australia.) It is difficult to verify any of this research

rescue operations near Anzac on 29th October, 1915, when he twice
descended a mine shaft which was foul with gas fumes. He inspected
each branch down the shaft, and was only just able to reach the

MAN'S TRAGIC MISTAKE, ORANGE, Friday. Cyril
Roy Rankin, 43, married, occupying a house in Dalton-street by himself during the temporary absence of his wife, was discovered in a serious condition in the backyard of the premises yesterday morning by a
neighbour. Nearby was a bottle containing white crystals. Rankin said he had taken them thinking they were epsom salts, but he faintly remarked: "I think it has got me." He then collapsed, and died soon after.)
