The house at Omata abt.
1852 was sketched by Joseph Merrett He included himself
with the Curtis
children Ida, Helen and young Charles, the family
dogs, a feeding sow and piglets, hams and poultry hanging in
the verandah shade.
The interior of the reed
cottage shows a scattering of imported furniture and packing
cases, with family portraits and the obligitary cat in
