HAROLD FRANKLIN HURSTHOUSE was b: 30 Jul 1875 in New Plymouth, and d: 19 Oct 1965 in Wellington Hospital.

He mar: 2 Apr 1907 in Manaia to GRACE CAMPBELL HAIR. She was born 16 Aug 1880, the daughter of WILLIAM HAIR and MARGARET MCKENZIE, and d: 16 Sep 1958 aged 78Y at Blenheim.

MARRIAGE: HURSTHOUSE-HAIR — On April 2, 1907, at the; residence of the bride's parent, Motumatie, Manaia, by the Rev. McKenigie, Harold Franklin, second son of Charles Wilson Hursthouse, of Wellington, to Grace Campbell Hair, fifth daughter of William Hair, of Manaia, Tatatiaki.

He became Crown Lands ranger at Westport - Taranaki Herald, 16 October 1909: Considerable interest is being taken outside of New Plymouth in the cottage garden competition, promoted by Mr. G. Tisch, Mayor of New Plymouth, that the local Horticultural Society is holding. The secretary of the society has received a letter from Mr. H. F. Hursthouse, of Westport, asking for particulars of the competition

In 1911 Harold was appointed Crown Lands Ranger to Blenheim, Marlborough and he later became a Grain Buyer.

Two months prior to his death when Harold  went to live with his daughter,Mrs Clement Atkinson at Wellington.

 At this time, he was the oldest living member of the Lawn Excelsior Lodge of the Manchester Unit Oddfellows, having joined in 1892.

The 3 diaries which cover 1899-1901 have pressed flowers and ferns inserted between the pages. The collection also includes correspondence, clippings, photographs, testimonials, letters to Charles Hursthouse for period 1841-1842, copy of the will of Ernest William Hursthouse (brother), and pedigree of the Hursthouse family from 1580.
