Jane Bayly was born 17 Mar 1819 in Clawton,
Devon to parents John Bayly and Ann nee Bassett Died: 24
Jul 1885 in New Plymouth. With her husband Thomas Penwarden and their 8
children they emigrated in 1857 to join her three brothers in Taranaki in
1857 aboard the ship Cashmere.
Her husband's ancestors were : John
Venton (b. abt 1698) who married Thomazin Jeffery in 1724. One son, Thomas
Venton (b. abt 1729) married Mary Andrew in 1756, Bradford, Devon,
England.
Their children were Ann (1757), John (1760), Suzanne (1763),
Mary (1765), William (1768) and Hannah (1770).
Hannah Venton married
John Penwarne (his name changed to Penwarden) in 1790 in Bradford, Devon,
England. They had 11 children - one was Thomas Penwarden who
married Jane Bayly 27th Feb 1840 in Clawton, Devon, England. Thomas
was b: 29 Nov 1811 in Cookbury Devon and d: 30 Jul 1879 in New
Plymouth.
