Warrington, Lancashire, the son of father George Morton and
mother Jane Rogerson. George was employed as a miner at the
Huntley mine and on 19th June 1907 he married to Minnie Arabella Newsham. She was born 28 Feb
1870 at Omata, Taranaki Father: Thomas Newsham Mother: Mary Louisa
Lethbridge and was aged five years both parents died and she was
brought up by her older brothers and sisters and rceived her schooling at
Omata. Minnie in 1885 was at Pihama and 1896 at Opunake doing house
keeping. Her marriage was to end after just three
years when George died 03 May 1910 aged 39 yrs at Gt North
Road, New Lynn. He was buried at Waikaraka Cemetery, Onehunga, Area 3
Block 1 Lot No 83.
