1905 for London on the ship "Rimutaka " Occ: Dentist" with his brothers John and
Leonard.
He mar: RHODA BUCHANNAN 22 Jun 1906 in St
Mary's Church, Seven Oaks, England. She was b: 18 Dec 1878 in
Ashburton, Canterbury to parents John Edgar Buchanan (1844 – 1895)
and Elizabeth Saunders (1852 – 1880); Rhoda d: 09 Oct 1948 aged 69Y.
Evening Post, 29 Sept
1906: Messrs. W. R. and J. F. Hursthouse have just returned from
studying dentistry in England and America. Mr. W R Hursthouse was for
eight months at the National Dental Hospital in London, where he took a
post graduate course. His brother took a similar course at the
Philadelphia College, U.S.A. Mr. W. R. Hursthouse has commenced practising
in Wellington. William fought for the
preservation and protection of the Days Bay bush 23 Oct 1914 appointed to the honary
Dental staff of the Wellington Hospital 29 Jan 1915: TO LET, furnished, early
in February, a 6-roomed House at Mahina Bay (Day's Bay) hot and cold

Aurora-terrace. 27 Nov 1915: A very delightful recital
of Enoch Aixlen was lately given by Mrs. Phil Nathan, accompanied by Mrs.
G. FitzGerald, at the residence of Mrs W. R. Hursthouse, Aurora-terrace. A
charge was made, and the pretty drawing-room and dining-room, which are
connected by folding doors, were well filled with a most appreciative
audience. Tea was served during the interval by Mrs. Hursthouse and
Mrs. Hudson, the tables being artistically decorated With flowers The
proceeds, of the recital are to be given to the Wounded Soldiers Fund

Major Major Wm Richmond Hursthouse (occ.
dentist) left on the Hospital Ship with the New Zealand Medical Corps for
Duty in England 4 June 1919; Major W. R. Hursthouse
having arrived in Egypt, has taken over the duties of senior dental
officer in place of Captain R. I. Sutton as Senior Dental Officer
NZEF.
19 Nov 1919: Major W. R. Hursthouse ,
M.B.E.. of the New Zealand Dental Corps, has been demobilised in the U Ki,
and will stay here for some time. He is at present spending much of his
time at Guy's Hospital. Major Hursthouse went to Egypt in
connexion with the dental clearance of the troop's demobilised from there,
and came to England in June. 11 March: Major W. R. Hursthouse
(N.Z.D.C.) has since last July been doing full-time work and study at
Guy's Hospital, London. He has lately passed the first part of his final
for the L.D.S., and hopes -to complete the degree in November. As soon
after that as possible he expects to return to New Zealand to recommence
his dental practice in Wellington. Major and Mrs. Hursthouse are living at
Highgate.
2 Aug 1920; Mr. and Mrs. W. R.
Hursthouse and their two little daughters are passengers in the s.s.
Rimutaka. for Wellington. They have been living for the last year in
London, where Mr. Hursthouse has been spending most of his time in
practical and theoretical dental work at Guy's
Hospital. 27 Apr 1923; Mr W. R. Hursthouse, who
has been engaged at the Dental Department of the Wellington Hospital for
the last year during the absence in America of Mr. Bender, has resumed his
private practice at 16 Aurora terrace, close to Woodward street.
7 Aug 1930: The presentation of
debutantes to Their Excellencies the Governor-General and Lady Blcdisloe
preceded the ball at Government Houso last night. Miss
Mary Hursthouse, long frock of cream mariette and. crepe-de-chine,
bouquet of primroses; presented by Mrs W. R. Hursthouse, silver lace over
plum coloured crepe-de-chine. William d: 14 Aug 1941 in Dunedin aged
