with failing to provide for his wife and family, .

1892 R.M. COURT MASTERTON, MONDAY. FAILING TO PROVIDE, William Peacock had, since
the December last, failed to provide for his wife and seven children. Mr
Skipper appeared for the defendant. Sergeant M'Anlle asked for a remand
till Friday next, J Mr Skipper; "I have no objection to the remand.
It is a case the Resident Magistrate should hear". The Bench: "Very well.
Tlis case is remanded till Friday, Mr Skipper; I would ask that bail
be allowed". The Bench : "Bill will be allowed in the accused £lO, and one
surety of £lO"
William Thomas Peacock, who was charged in the Masterton R.M. Court this morning with failing to provide for his wife and family, was arrested about a week ago, For reasons best known to the Police Department he has been incarcerated in the Wellington Gaol for a week; It is an accepted axiom that a man is innocent until his guilt is proved.
