Sergeant M'Anlle asked for a remand till Friday next, J Mr Skipper; "I have no objection to the remand. It is a case the Resident Magistrate should hear". The Bench: "Very well. Tlis case is remanded till Friday, Mr Skipper; I would ask that bail be allowed". The Bench : "Bill will be allowed in the accused £lO, and one surety of £lO"

William Thomas Peacock, who was charged in the Masterton R.M. Court this morning with failing to provide for his wife and family, was arrested about a week ago, For reasons best known to the Police Department he has been incarcerated in the Wellington Gaol for a week; It is an accepted axiom that a man is innocent until his guilt is proved. This case therefore appears to be one of great hardship.
