ANN JEFFERIS was b: 1 Oct 1848 in Keynsham, Somerset, England to parents John Jefferis and Ann nee Hall. She was bapt: 29 Oct 1848 at  St Nicholas, Whitchurch, Somerset, England. Census: 1851 - Residence Yew Tree Farm:

When 10, she along with her parents and siblings Lucy; Benjamin James; John; Walter; Elizabeth; Rowland and Hester Jefferis immigrated on the "Nourmahall" to Dunedin, New Zealand. Anne d: 14 Feb 1910 aged 61Y in Timaru and was bur: at the West Taieri Cem: Block 24 . Plot 9
Ann Jefferis  mar: ARTHUR ALEXANDER WEBB on 30 Jan 1873 in the Church of England, Waikouaiti. Arthur was b: Sept 29, 1841 at Killucan, West Meath, Ireland, a small village near Dublin. (His parents: Thomas Montgomerie Webb (son of George Webb and Caroline Elizabeth Boyd was b:18 Jun 1792 in Wardenstown, Westmeath, Ireland; d: 15 Dec 1860 in Portarlington, Kings County, Ireland)  mar: his mother Annie Cranston on 22 Apr 1829 in Belfast, Ireland, daughter of William Cranston.
Arthur who arrived in NZ 1860 was brother of Adam Cuppage; Charles Alexander; John Gregory; Mary Caroline; Ellen Catherine; Thomas William; Annie Charlotte and Hugh George Webb.

Arthur first had a Butcher's shop in Outram and at the time of his marriage ran the Bucks Eye or Buckeye Hotel. It was built abt 1862 and was sited by the Upper Taieri Ferry at Outram.

ODT; 14 June 1887: The annual meeting of the Outram Licensing Committee was held in the courthouse, Outram on Fnday, and was attended by Messrs P. Grant(chairman), W. Aitken, T A. White, and J. Mather. The following renewals were granted: Arthur Alexander Webb, Buckeye Hotel; Outram.

Arthur died on 4 Nov 1888 in Taieri aged 47Y and was bur: 6 Nov at the West Taieri Outram Cem. (Result of blood poisoning caused by a cut from a soda-water bottle)

ODT: 22 Oct 1891: Changes: Mr Swanson, the owner of the premises has shifted to Middlemaroh from Nenthorn and which will shortly be known as the Railway Hotel, has sold out to Mrs Webb, late of the Buckeye Hotel who has had her licence transferred from Outram to Middlemarch. The Buckeye Hotel, which has been a well-known hostelry for many years, is now closed - Ontram has a hotel less and Middlemarch a hotel more, the Middlemarch Railway Hotel.

Information kindly sent by the Strath Taieri Society states: The photo heading this page is the present day Strath Taieri Hotel which was built after 1921, when the first Strath Taieri Hotel situated on the other side of the railway line burned down. Middlemarch had two hotels when Mrs Webb owned the Railway Hotel which was further south on Snow Avenue. Today, the Webb's Hall building near the back of the hotel site is thought likely part of the livery stables. The second hotel, the Strath TaieriI was situated on the other side of the railway line. This burned down and in 1921 was rebuilt . 1953 restricted Liquor licence to one - the newer Hotel got the licence and the Railway Hotel was demolished.

Thomas mar: on 27 Jan 1899 to Margaret Ann Herbert (b. Aug 1878,"Farnham" Herbertville, Hawkes Bay, the daughter of Ellen Mary Ann Louisa and Charles Herbert; d. May 1957) Margaret's father was Charles Herbert J.P., they lived at Herbertville (formerly Wainui) which was named after her father who donated land for a school and post office. He and his three brothers owned three thousand acres of farmland around Wainui, which they had cleared and settled on. Margaret's grandfather was one of the old pioneer settlers of Wellington, Joseph Herbert.

 21 October 1909 PERSONAL. Mr F. C. Stubbs, accountaut of the local office of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agent Company, has entered into partnership with Mr T. M. Webb, another of tlie Loan Company's Dannevirke staff, a commission after a resolution was unanimously adopted by the Directors of the Taranaki Co-operative Dairy Company conveying the highest appreciation of Mr Stubbs' energy and successful work in the flotation of the company, and wishing him "the fullest measure of success and prosperity."

14 Feb 1910: In consequence of his mother's serious illness, Mr T. M. Webb received an urgent call to the South, and left by the 1 o'clock train to catch the steamer at Wellington. We regret to learn that hardly had Mr Webb's train left the station when word of his mother's death was received.

26 Jan 1911: Mr T. M. Webb, one of the secretaries of the Dannevirke A. and P. Association, attended the show at Woodville and was successful in obtaining a large .number of entries, chiefly from the .most successful exhibitors at the show. Up to a late hour last night and by the mails this morning, the secretaries were kept busy receiving entries, which when classified they anticipate will be very satisfactory.

 25 April 1914: The Dannevirke Chamber of Commerce has appointed Messrs. T. M. Webb and A. J. C. Luneman as representatives at a conference to be held at Napier in with the Napier Chamber's proposal to make one uniform rate for all sales commission.

NZ Herald,  1 June 1938: NATIVE AFFAIRS  An. office has been opened by the Native Affairs Department in the new Government block in Knox Street, Hamilton, to deal with the administration' of Waikato Maori land development scheme. Messrs. T. M. Webb and N. A. Palmer of 'the Native Affairs Depart:been appointed to the office.

Thomas worked as an advisor to the Maori Council and took up residence at Hamilton NZ. He separated from his wife and partner was Ruth Gwenndoline Rush dau of

iii. ANNIE HALL WEBB (b. 18 Jul 1876; d. 1 Jan 1950 aged 73Y; bur: Wellington) Anne went to Spokane, Ohio as a housekeeper for her uncle Walter Jefferis for fifteen years.

When she returned she kept house for Thomas Culverwell on a farm in Taneatua and later married him. She was admitted to Porirua Hospital on 5th November 1949 with Senile Dementia having been transferred there from Cook Hospital, Gisborne. 

iv. JOHN JEFFERIS WEBB (b. 19 Jun 1879; d. 16 Dec 1893, bur: 20 Dec 1893  West Taieri Cem; Block 24 . Plot 8; age 15 Y six mths)

vi MARY CAROLINE WEBB (daughter of Arthur Alexander Webb and Ann Jefferis) was born 9 May 1882, and died 24 Jan 1969.She went to England with her Cousin Jean Shaw where she met and married William Page who was a widower - they lived at Southend on Sea, Essex, England,  Mary Caroline and William Page had three daughters: Jacquiline, Hilda and Joan Page 

vii. WALTER HALL WEBB (b. 06 Sep 1883 in Outram, son of Arthur Alexander Webb and Ann Jefferis; d. 09 Jul 1962) mar: 1904 in Waipiata, Otago to ISABELLA MARGARET DOWLE (b. 27 Feb 1879, Lydney, England to parents William Joseph Dowle and Margaret Sara Walden; d. 28 Feb 1953 aged 74Y)

Walter was the manager of a creamery in Dunedin when he married.

They moved to Tinakori Rd, Wellington where they had a store in Lambton Quay. They were in Wellington when it was hit by the influenza epidemic around 1918. Elsie was one of the lucky few who caught influenza and survived. In 1923 storekeeper of Tokomaru  then  farmed at Tokomaru until the depression of 1935 when they moved off the farm and lived in their holiday home at Waikanae.

i. Gwendolyn Hall Webb ( b: 26 Sep 1905, Hawthorndale, Roslyn, Otago, d: 25 Jun 1981, Palmerston Nth) She mar: Fred Haley 24 Dec 1928 in All saints Church, Palmerston North, NZ, son of Geo, Henry Haley and Emily Mary Walton 

Their children are: Maurice Hall, Russell Frederick, and Margaret Doreen Haley

ii. Arthur Alexander Webb, (b: 16 Dec 1906; d: 05 Apr 1969, Taupo) He mar:  24 Aug 1932 to Ynes Glasson Easten daughter of Richard Allen Easten and Christine Ada nee SEABURY (b: 19 Dec 1906 at Foxton, Manawatu; she d: 1 Sep 1979)

iii Elsie Margaret Webb (b: 03 Aug 1912;Trained as a nurse and was in the Army until she retired. d: 26 Jul 1968)

x. CHARLES ADAM WEBB (b. 19 Feb 1888 - Son of Arthur Alexander Webb and Ann Jefferis; d. 26 May 1969 aged 81Y) mar: 1915 EMILY ISABEL WALSH (b: 1890; d: July 26, 1964 aged 74Y) Charles married Emily in England during World War 1 and they returned to NZ.

He worked as a Stock Buyer for the Longburn Freezing Works. He died of a heart attack on the Napier Golf Course, he was staying with his niece Dot at the time
