page is the present day Strath Taieri Hotel which was built after
1921, when the first Strath Taieri Hotel situated on the other side
of the railway line burned down. Middlemarch had two hotels when Mrs
Webb owned the Railway Hotel which was further south on Snow Avenue.
Today, the Webb's Hall building near the back of the hotel site is
thought likely part of the livery stables. The second hotel, the
Strath TaieriI was situated on the other side of the railway line.
This burned down and in 1921 was rebuilt . 1953 restricted
Liquor licence to one - the newer Hotel got the licence and the
            Railway Hotel was demolished.
