Benjamin & Eliza Hilbert

BENJAMIN HILBERT son of Phillip occ: farmer and Lucy Hilbert, was bapt: 12 Dec 1830 at Boxley, Kent and 1841 10 yrs old lived at High Street, Strood, Kent.

In 1851 aged 20 yrs; Benjamin was an Agricultural Labourer - the census shows him visiting Stephen Vinal and his family (unkown if related)

He was a bricklayer when he mar: on 7 Nov 1858 by Banns "a Bachelor aged 27 years" to ELIZA MARTIN "a Spinster, aged 24 years" in St Pauls Church, Bermondsey, the daughter of JOHN MARTIN b: Abt. 1834 in Wroyjam, Kent. Both fathers occup; were given as "labourers". Witnesses: were Nathan Hilbert and Elizabeth King.  The newly weds lived at 2 Jarmans Cottages, Tunbridge Wells Road, Tunbridge, Kent (Above: St Pauls Church 1848)

In 1871 aged 40 yrs, Benjamin's occup: is Bricklayer / Builder living at Sidcup Parsonage, Sidcup Hill, Chislehurst, Kent, Eliza is aged 36yrs. From 1873 to 1881 he is a Builder living at Alder Hill, Sidcup, Foots Cray, Kent.

 Benjamin d: 30 Aug 1881 aged 49 years in Maidstone Road, Sidcup, Kent

WILL:- Made on 6.12.1873 (one of the Executors is John Richard King - Elizabeth King was a witness at the wedding - unkown if a family connection) Will proved on 15.9.1881

THIS IS THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT of me Benjamin Hilbert of Sidcup in the County of Kent, Builder. I give devise and bequeath all the real and personal estate of which I shall be possessed or entitled at the time of my decease unto my wife Eliza Hilbert absolutely I appoint my brother Philip Hilbert of Dartford in the County of Kent, Market Gardener and John Richard King of Saint Mary's Island, Chatham in the said County, Clerk, EXECUTORS of this my Will and revoke all former Wills by me at any time heretofore made. In witness whereof I have hereunto put my hand this sixth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy three

PROVED at London on 15th September 1881 by the oaths of Philip Hilbert the brother and John Richard King the Executors to whom admon was granted.

1901 Census: Eliza b: in Wrotham, Kent, aged 66 years. She d: 1905 Maidstone; Kent.
