New Zealand Herald, 25 Nov 1910: THE LAND MARKET A ballot for sections of Crown lands in various parts of the Auckland land district took place at the Lands Office . There were 135 applicants, all of whom were landless within the meaning of the Act. The applications covered over 8661 acres. of which 600 acres were unsurveyed in the Maruanui survey district. All were disposed of under the O.R.P. tenure. The following sections were drawn under the renewable lease system:—Section 43a, Selwyn settlement, Secyion 7, Block 3, Rotoma, 513 acres, J. W. Jefferis;

Pukekohe & Waiuku Times, 22 July 1913 BUCKLAND. FARMERS' UNION SOCIAL. In connection with the local branch of the Farmers' Union a most successful social was held in the Buckland Public Hall on Wednesday evening. The commitee. with Mr Walter Jefferis, the popular branch secretary, had left no stone unturned to ensure the enjoyment of all, and the large attendance present, coupled with the success which marked the function, must have been most gratifying. Dancing proceeded merrily until a late hour, the music being spplied by Mrs Wm. V. Daw, while the duties of M.C. were carried out in an efficient manner by Mr W. Jefferis. During the evening vocal items were contributed by Mesdamea A. F. Hewitt, J. McAnally and Miss G. Bagnall. Refreshments were provided by the ladies.
