Jack's grandparents were b: in Ireland and immigrated to Victoria, Australia - here his father, William Poulson was born and when six, the family left from Melbourne on 17 Mar 1869 on the ship "Tararua" for Otago, New Zealand. William, a bootmaker, operated 1893 his busiess first at Clyde " The advertisement, in another column of this issue, of Mr William Poulson, who has commenced business as boot and shoe maker in the premises receutly occupied by the late Mr Brown. Mr Poulson is prepared to undertake all classes of work, and has had an extended experience in the largest manufactories in Dunedin and other places, where he has earned the reputation of beiug a neat and efficient tradesman From our own knowledge, we can confidently say that those favouring Mr Poulson with their patronage will receive entire satisfaction" In 1898, William bought a house and section at Alexandra and mar: 19 Apr 1900 at St James Anglican Church, Roxburgh to Elizabeth Hiscock dau of Francis William Hiscock (1875-1960). Valedictory given  Mr and Mrs Poulson when they left Alexandra after 13 May 1937 to live at 16 Eastbourne Street Caversham - Wm d: 27 May 1952 aged 87Y, Bur: 29 May, Andersons Bay Cem.; his wife, widow Elizabeth d: 19 Jun 1968 at Parkside Hosp., Dunedin aged 98Y.

Dorothy POULSON (b: Aug 28, 1930 in Dunedin; d: July 09, 1969 in Christchurch aged 39Y); Mar: 1950 in Christchurch to Ian Herdman PARK  (b: 11 August 1923;  occ: engineer; d: 1985)
Their 3 children - 2 first were still-born; their son Anthony John PARK was b: 1950; d: Nov 12, 1955 
 
After Dorothy's death, Ian remarried  Velma Margaret Cox nee Manson (b: 21 Nov 1923; d: 2011)

Jack Poulson and Doris  div. 1931 at Christchurch;  (he was at Dunedin and from there died  at Nelson 05 Jun 1955 aged 54Y  Crem. Whakapuaka Cem. 7 Jun - his ashes interred at Andersons Bay Cem, Dunedin)

Doris Elsie Ivory Poulson mar. (2) 1933 to John (Jack) Middleton FORBES (b: February 15, 1891 in Christchurch; WW1 Serviceman; Occ: Railways;  Farmer at Rolleston. He was a shopkeeper at Christchurch when he d: 1968, )

Star: 9 Sep 1915: John Middleton Forbes; Reported wounded in the shoulder, is a son of Mrs J. Forbes, of 218  Colombo Street, Sydenham. He was educated at the West Christchurch School and prior to enlisting he was in the service of the Railway Departrnent. Sapper Forbes went with the Railway Engineers to Samoa and on returning to New Zealand he joined the Fourth Reinforcements. - wounded photo (Star photo - 17 Sep 1915)
