Alice Elsie Benbow & Frederick Button

Alice Elsie* Benbow (b: 04 Jun 1914 in Temuka, dau. of William Jonathan Joshua and Alice Maria Benbow; d: 25 Feb 1992 in Christchurch; Bur: 28 Feb 1992 Ruru Lawn Cem: Chch)

Elsie lived at Cross St, Temuka with her family and attended the Temuka Primary School. She was enrolled 7 Feb 1921 and left 16 Dec 1927 for Hilton. 

Source: Benbow Book: "Elsie was very musical and could whistle like a canary, a rare talent for a lady and much appreciated by audiences who enjoyed the sweet whistled old melodies. She had been taught by her father who was a good whistler.

Elsie Benbow and Fred Button were keen ballroom dancers entering competitions and Elsie married her dancing partner.

Fred (b: 27 Jul 1907 in Chch was a motor mechanic; d: 29 Dec 1974 in Chrch Burial: 31 Dec 1974 Ruru Lawn Cem., Christchurch) and wife Elsie's children listed below, were born at Ladbrooks, Lincoln, Christchurch.
