Elsie lived at Cross St, Temuka

her family and attended the Temuka Primary School. She was
enrolled 7
Feb 1921 and left 16 Dec 1927 for Hilton.

musical
and could whistle like a canary, a rare talent for a lady and much
appreciated by audiences who enjoyed the sweet whistled old
melodies. She
had been taught by her father who was a good whistler.
Elsie Benbow and Fred Button
were keen
ballroom dancers entering competitions and Elsie married her
dancing
partner.
