EDWIN GUILDFORD was
born 23 Oct 1916 in Invercargill and his widowed mother,
Jeanie was storekeeper at Ophir. Edwin was admitted
to the Blacks school in 1923 and at the end of Oct. 1927,
his mother has a store at Timaru and they are living at 43 Raymond
St. Here Ted attended the South School and in May
1928, the Waimaitai School and transferred to the Timaru West
School in June 1929 . A keen sportsman, he was 16 when he
won a race swimming across Timaru Harbour. Jeanie moved to
Auckland in 1936 is living at Appts at 23 St Paul St. Saint Mary's
Bay with Ted. The following year together, Jeanie and Ted
treavelled to view the Paris Exhibition and in June Jeanie
attended a garden party at Buckingham Palace - a year later she
passed away
1939.
