IDA ALICE BENBOW  was b: 07 Feb 1895 at Temuka, dau. of Alice Harriet and James Benbow Her first schooling was received at the  Temuka Primary School othhen on 2 Feb 1903 at the Rangitira Valley School and left 5 Jun 1907 for home duties. She d: 21 Nov 1954 in Ashburton aged 59Y. Her ashes bur. with her parents James and Alice at Rakaia Cem.

Ida mar: 6 Mar 1924 to SAMUEL MITCHELL  - he was born 1879 and was later a builder in Christchurch. He d: 31 Oct 1967 aged 89Y in Christchurch. 

Press, 13 March 1924: WEDDINGS. MITCHELL-BENBOW: A pretty wedding was celebrated recently at Rakaia, when Miss Ida Benbow, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Benbow, of Bankside, was married to Mr S. Mitchell, of Ashburton. The ceremony took place in St. Mark"s Church, which was decorated with white flowers in honour of the occasion. The Rev. Blakiston was the officiating minister. The bride's dress was of white uncrushable satin with georgette sleeves, handsomelv braided. The bridesmaid was Miss Myra Ackroyd, niece of the bride. Her dress was of ivory brocaded satin, and she wore a large white georgette hat relieved with pink. Mr R. Crisp acted as groomsman. After the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of Mr A. Shellock. where the usual toasts were honoured. The bride's travelling dress was a navy tailored costume, nicely braided. Her hat was of navy marocain and gold tissue, with shoes and stockings to match.
