Waitohi - "Ladymoor" built by William Benbow
10 March 2013 we were invited to view the home of Alan and Marie at Waitohi. "Ladymoor" today is hidden from the road and nestles comfortably surrounded by lawn and gardens in it's rural setting and in the orchard, gnarly laden fruit trees of great age remain, so unlike today's varieties, planted from seeds brought from Shropshire by our ancestors so very long ago.

This is all that remains of the original Benbow dwelling - it was reduced in size when the concrete house was built beside it  in 1878 and became a cool larder used for storage of produce. It is accorded a Heritage Protection Order to preserve it's historic construction.
