James Wood (by trade a silversmith and jeweller in London - his retirement
location and place of death in 1840 thought to be Jersey island.
He had mar: Lucy Ryan who was b: Limerick Ireland
- she d: London 1815.

Henry (aka: Clocky Wood) joined other
early settlers arriving on the "William Bryan" sailing from Plymouth,
England on the 19th November 1840 and arrived at New Plymouth, New
Zealand on the 30th March 1841.

Charles Francis was an early settler at Kahutara. His wife, Jemina
Smith, was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. Smith, pioneer settlers of
Moroa and later Kaiwaiwai, who arrived in the early ’sixties. Mr.
Goodrick farmed his property at Kahutara until 1908 when he retired to
live at South Featherston, living to the age of 93
years.

MOYLE was b: in Helston, Cornwall, the son of parents
Stephen and Eleanor Moyle. He mar: Mary WILLIAMS on 18 Aug 1942
Helson, Cornwall (Ref: "Faith, Hope & Courage" The Story of Edward
& Mary Moyle and their Descendants - Lynch & Fincham) and two
weeks after being married, the newly-weds left for New
Zealand on the "Essex" (329 tons, 114 passengers, sailing from Plymouth,
England at half past 5 p.m. on 3 Sept. 1842 with 116 passengers.
Arrived Wellington 4 Jan 1843 and left for New Plymouth on 16
Jan. 1843, arriving 20 Jan. 1843, Taranaki's 6th emigrant vessel to
arrive.
Edward Moyle was a
rope
maker by trade, a
Sunday School teacher and was a local preacher of the Wesleyan Church. In
NZ where he became the first NZ Primitive Methodist Sunday School
Superintendent. Edward & Mary were allocated Lot 1136 in the town of
New Plymouth but did not live there, because it was to become
Pukekura Park. William later signed renunciation of rights to this Lot.
Edward was sworn in as a Sergeant of the Taranaki Militia in 1855
and fought in the Battle of Waireka. 6 Apr 1860 mother Mary Moyle
left New Plymouth with her 8 children William, Julia, Eleanor, Esther,
Edward, Jane, Mary and Sophia were evacuated for safety from
