Bur: 25 May 1933 Paterangi Cemetery. He married 21 Oct 1889 in St.
Saviour's Church, Alexandra Laura Marion Wills who was born 1871 (Her
father James Wills and mother Anna Morey). Laura died 1943 . Buried
with George at Paterangi Cemetery, Row 5 Block 66 Lot
C.

On Wednesday last
at Saviour's Church, (Alexandra) was attended by a larger congregation
than has been for many a day, the attraction being the wedding of Mr Geo
Finch to Miss Laura Marion Wills, the Rev Mr Bolar being the officiation
minister. The bridegroom being a universal favourite here and throughout
the district, his many friends assembled to witness the interesting
ceremony and sent him off with his best wishes. The bride and familly
although not so generally well known have during their residence here,
made many friends. The wedding morning was a beautiful one and at the
conclusion of the ceremony, flowers were plentifully strewn in the path of
the happy couple. The wedding breakfast at Glenburn the residence of the
bride's parents was generously attended by their friends and at it's
conclusion the newly married couple drove off to Hamilton en route for Te
Aroha for their honeymoon.
On George's farm at
Ngaroto, Paterangi near the Lake Road Station, were tree-covered
remains of a fort named Tauranga-mirimiri,
occupied for a time during the war period 1863–64.
Councillor George Finch represented Paterangi riding on the Waipa County Council and was also a member of the Ngaroto Drainage Board. Below, the children of George and Laura Finch:
