He d: 11 Nov 1905 in West Hendred Vicarage, Berkshire; his Bur: on 16 Nov 1905 Holy Trinity, West Hendred, Berkshire.

He mar: 8 Apr 1856  CHARLOTTE BARTRUM in Holy Trinity, Bath, Somerset,. She was born 15 Aug 1829 in Milsom Street, Sion Hill, Bath, Somerset,  daughter of BENJAMIN THOMAS BARTRUM and SARAH STOTHERTand d: 25 Aug 1908 in Aborfield, Wantage, Berkshire.

vii. Eleanor Grace Hayden (b: 1865 Helmdon, Northamptonshire; d: abt Aug 1954, Tavistock, Devon. In 1872, her parents moved to West Hendred, a village in Berkshire, at the foot of the Downs, about 13 miles from Oxford. In 1901 she was the only one of Charles' children still living at home in the Vicarage.

In 1901 she had published "Travels round our village". Subject: Houses -- West Hendred -- Illustrations.  Her father was a scholar, Fellow and Dean of Corpus Christian College, Cambridge. After his death, in 1905, she and her mother settled in a village of the Vale of the White Horse, where they lived for two years. Writing in 1908, Eleanor G Hayden, in poetic style, drew attention to the qualities of light, mist and atmosphere found in the Vale - "the subtle and less obvious effects of atmosphere, of cloud and sky, of vivid sunset tints and ghostly, creeping mists reveal themselves most clearly to the discerning vision."Islands of the Vale, 1908 The "gossamer veil clinging to the sombre background of trees" that she describes, can still be seen.
Then they went to Wantage, where her mother died after six months. and Eleanor then travelled extensively all over the world visiting brothers and sisters, served in various capacities during World War I, and took part in political work.

viii. Constance Hayden was bapt: 31 Jul 1867, Helmdon, Northamptonshire, and died 1951 in Wirral, Cheshire. She mar; Francis Sharp Bardsley-Powell on 04 Jun 1891 in Holy Trinity Church, West Hendred, Berkshire. Francis was b: Abt. The Times  May 24, 1928: The Rev Oswald Ernest Hayden became the subject of an inquiry reporting to the Bishop of Gloucester when “notwithstanding that he was a married man, he constantly sought the company of a certain female”. This allegation was unproven. However, the bishop inhibited him for two years because of foul language Their family:
