Samuel Strand - Suffolk Descendants 

1 SAMUEL STRAND mar:  Margaret  ? (she d:  27 Dec 1730 aged 54Y) Their family b: at Polstead, Suffolk were:

Samuel Strand (b: 01 Apr 1705);  Judith Strand (b: 08 Apr 1707);  Mary Strand (b: 25 Apr 1711)  and  Samuel Strand (b: 21 May 1716 in Polsted, Suffolk)

2 SAMUEL STRAND was b:  May 21, 1716 in Polsted, Suffolk, Occn: Farmer of Aldham; he d: Sept 18, 1778 in Aldham aged 82Y  and was bur: St Marys's Churchyard at Aldham. He wife was DEBORAH HINSUM. She was b: Abt. 1737.

St Marys is a small church with a round tower situated on a hill overlooking a valley. It dates back to at least the 14th Cenury and some of the tracery is 13th centery and the lower part of the tower is thought to be Norman. The remains of Saxon stonework are found in the walls and window dressing.

Samuel's and Deborah's children:

i. SAMUEL STRAND was born November 30, 1771 in St Marys Church, Aldham, and died August 1859 in Aldham. His burial was on August 06, 1859 at St Mary's Church, Aldham The Strands lived at Yew Tree Farm, Aldham, Suffolk. He married SARAH RALPH July 16, 1811 in St Mary Parish Church, Aldham. She was born Abt. 1791 in Aldham, and died July 21, 1862 in Aldham.
Children of SAMUEL STRAND and SARAH RALPH were:

i. MYRA STRAND b. May 30, 1810, Aldham, Suffolk; Baptism: February 07, 1812, Aldham Parish, Suffolk ; m. RICHARD GARDINER February 12, 1840, Aldham; b. Elmsett; Occupation: Farmer

ii. SARAH ANN STRAND (b. 1812, Yew Tree Farm, Aldham, Suffolk; Baptism: January 21, 1813, St Marys Church, Aldham, Suffolk; She died of consumption (TB) on. April 14, 1848, Aldham; her burial: April 20, 1848, St Marys Church, Aldham, Suffolk) She married WILLIAM BULLOCK CONE January 11, 1838, Aldham Parish Church; b. 1815, Cratfield, England; d. June 02, 1852, Bridle Path, Christchurch.

On the 10th February, 1820, Sarah Ann Srand aged 8 years finished making a sampler 12" x 8". About 3 1/2" from the top, she worked the following lines -
"Our youth devoted to the Lord
Is pleasing in his eyes
A flower if offered in the bud
Is no vain sacrifice."
At the bottom she embroidered - "Sarah Ann Strand Feb 10 1820 aged 8 years"

iii. SAMUEL HENRY STRAND (Baptised April 07, 1813, St Mary Church, Aldham d. January 12, 1899, Newton Abbott, Devon; Burial: January 1899, Newton Abbott, Devon) Occupation: Inn Keeper ; m. ELIZABETH (BETSEY) BULL Baptism: August 18, 1824, St Mary's Church, Aldham, Elmsett, Suffolk; d. 1913, Kings Nympton, Devon.

iv. MARY LOUISA STRAND b. 1815, Aldham. Baptism: September 02, 1815, St Marys Church, Aldham, Suffolk Burial: June 22, 1817, St Marys Church, Aldham Suffolk

v. FREDERICK EDWARD STRAND Baptism: June 21, 1818, Aldham Parish, Suffolk

vi. LOUISA JULIA STRAND b. 1828; Baptism: March 20, 1831, Aldham Parish, Suffolk; d. September 1845, Aldham. and was buried on September 15, 1845, Aldham, Suffolk

These words written on her tombstone are eloquent of the sorrow of her parents ?
?Louise Julia dead, the thought pains my heart,
alsa we live to mourn, to die, to part.
But why so hasty death, why come so soon,
and cut Louise Julia down before twas noon??

vii. LOUISA JULIA STRAND b. 1831, Aldham.

2. FREDERICK STRAND was born August 25, 1776 in Aldham, Suffolk;Occupation: Malster and died March 1850 in Aldham, Suffolk where he was buried March 19, 1850. He married (1) ELIZABETH (BETSY) Abt. 1812.
He married (2) MARY ROUND April 13, 1829 in Aldham. She was born 1803, and was buried May 28, 1834 in Aldham, Suffolk. Child of FREDERICK STRAND and MARY ROUND was:
i. GEORGE STRAND b. Abt. September 1833, Aldham, Suffolk
He married (3) MARTHA SCOPE May 31, 1836 in Aldham, daughter of EDWARD SCOPE. Their children:
ii. SOPHIA STRAND Baptism: February 10, 1813
iii. GEORGE STRAND b. 1813, Baptism: January 17, 1814 Aldham, Suffolk. Burial: December 19, 1833, Aldham, Suffolk
