George Edward Cone & Doris Jean Louisa Creed

Elsie and brother George Cone GEORGE EDWARD CONE, born on January 05, 1904 at Rangiora was the youngest son of George Herbert Cone and Agnes Emma Palmer.On 7th September 1927, he married DORIS JEAN LOUISA CREED Creed, the daughter of William Creed and his second wife Mary Powis, an old Waiau family. George worked in the Waiau and Cheviot shops for a while then moved to Christchurch where he bought a house in Horner Street. Papanui. He managed two or three different shops on his own in Wentworth Street, Riccarton. They had no family. He died in 1989 at Christchurch.

Doris Jean Louisa Creed

George was a butcher and in 1929 was living at 34 Chelsea Street, Linwood, Christchurch; in 1957 at 20 Horner St, Fendalton and the following year his address is Edgeware Rd, Christchurch.

DORIS was born April 14, 1901 at at the residence of Mrs Thomas, Oxford St., Lyttelton  to parents William Richard Creed and mother Mary Powis - she died August 01, 1995 at Christchurch. Her father was a carrier and coach proprieter at Waiau. In addition contrated from 1899 to deliver mail brtween Waiau and Kaikoura (increased to thrice weekly), and between  Waiau and Claverley.
