Generation 1. James Reeves  (b: 1843 in Kenley, Shropshire was the son of George Reeves ( George was b: 1822 an old identity among the early settlers of Milton where for years he carried on business as a bootmaker - he d: 19/1/1897 at Union St, Milton d: in Cromwell) and mother Anna nee Bowen (b: 1828 in England;  d: 1848).

James mar: 1866 in Hokitika to Mary Rahill (b: 1844  in County Cavan, Ireland to parents John Rahill and mother Mary Hamilton; she d: 18 Sep 1898 in Bald Hill Flat, Otago Burial: Alexandra Cem.)

A gold prospector, James had just moved from Hokitika  to Otago and commenced prospecting the ground at Obelisk Creek, Alexandra. While working on his claim on the 29th July 1870 he was accidentlally killed by a fall of earth. His wife and two children John and Charlotte were still at the West Coast. At an inquest a verdict in accordance to the evidence was returned. The business people of Alexandra generously defrayed the funeral expenses for his burial at Alexandra Cem. 

Mary Rahill Reeves moved to Milton to live with her father-in-law George Reeves and here she remarried on 22 Dec 1871 George Wilkinson (b: 1841 in Sydney, NSW; (he  had worked on the claim at Obelisk Creek with James Reeves); d: 29 Aug 1909 )

 Mary and George Wilkinson had 9 children - Emma Wilkinson b: 03 Aug 1872; Robert Wilkinson b: 18 Jul 1873 in Bald Hill Flat, Otago; Mary Ann Wilkinson b: 23 Jul 1875;  Eliza Wilkinson b: 11 Oct 1876 in Spear Grass Flat, Otago;  William Wilkinson b: 22 Nov 1878;  Ellen Wilkinson b: 11 Mar 1881 in Spear Grass Flat, Otago;  Andrew Wilkinson b: 02 Jun 1882 in Bald Hill Flat, Otago; George Henry Wilkinson b: 02 Jun 1884 in Bald Hill Flat, Otago;  Susan Wilkinson b: 1885 Died: 1886 in Agd 8 mths Burial: Alexandra Cem.

2 Charlotte Reeves (b: 15 Aug 1868 in Charleston; d: 18 Nov 1918 Dunedin) mar: 1888 to Alfred Brown (b: 23 Jul 1868 b. Bromley, UK; WW1; Died: 14 Sep 1952 Dunedin. They had 8 children

Francis Kitto was a miner of Redruth  when he enlisted in the 10th Brigade Royal Artillery aged 21Y 8 Jan  1861 as a gunner. He was in Canada 6 years when he mar. Mary Elizabeth O'Brien, 26Y, spinster of Quebec 1864 was next in Gibralter 2 1/2 months  and Malta for 3yrs. Was discharged for damaged eyesight 10 Jan 1871 and was a labourer in the Woolwich Arsenal . Occ Labourer, he left Glasgow 26 Jul 1876 with wife Elizabeth 2, daus Emma aged 4  and Rose 1y The ship sailed from Clyde 26 Jul  1y arrived at Otago New Zealand on the "Timaru" 20 Oct 1876.
