Sat 30th Sept. After breakfast, the MV Expedition cruises upstream on the Murray River passing bankside holiday settlements to arrive mid-morning and berth at Mannum.
We were able to explore this attractive town on the banks of the Murray River which came into existence with the advent of the paddlesteamer transport industry in the 1850s. For some, the opportunity to do some impulse shopping!
We returned to the boat for lunch and continued cruising up-stream to tie up at our night's mooring at Teal Flat.
We went on a small boat for a guided ecological tour upstream to visualise birdlife and survey the rocks and native vegetation. On our return, our evening was spent with a traditional Aussie barbecue prepared on shore by the ship's crew followed by entertainment sitting around the campfire.
