Tues. 26th Sept.Today we started our great Nullabor adventure. If someone had asked us before,"Desert?" we would have thought "Sand" or perhaps "Very hot" but on this, our first day, we found it to be none of those things. Totally flat we found it to be vegetated with scubby growth and the occasional tree that struggled to survive - but very dry.The name 'Nullarbor' derives its name from Latin for 'no trees'.
The road which started undulating from Norseman became flat and straight and here the landscape offered little variation although never boring. However some took the opportunity to close their eyes for a while and progress was enlivened only only the roadworks and road trains.
We eventually drop down the escarpment into Madura for the night
